i doubt lco is laying down a separate fiber line for excitel's official fiber. anyhow... does not concern me for the time being. even if it has to connect to excitel's own box, it should be on the same pole where my wire is already connected.
honestly, i have not seen any changes on the poles in my lane. i didn't even get a brochure. just found a bunch of them lying on the road on the way to the market. would keep an eye if anything has changed on route. but i would have noticed if they were installing new boxes or anything. the guy responsible for managing the local network knows that i have been waiting for fiber for a few months now. he himself suggested to wait for a few weeks before things settled down. and today he told me that dumb onus are not likely to come for a while so i should just wait and he would call me up himself when they arrive. though i doubt he would bother. anyhow. i would probably stick to 100mbps. i already download way too much on ethernet 100mbps and this is on VPN where speeds are much lower than 100mbps.
But we have no idea when that onu will be available. I think excitel just wants max money deposit for their onu and I guess that's why they are pushing for these 2k ones. Otherwise I don't see any reason why only those dumb onus are short in supply when those 2k ones are readily available
@igloo what more options we all have, so we have to believe what an lco say. Rest no third parties onu are supported by excitel as most of their olts are locked and mac id of onu is to be whitelisted which is done by excitel. Plus onu serial number has to be entered on excitel pro care portal which is also done from excitel back end, no lco can manually feed that serial number
