CAS is not going to Stop Cable OPerator's monopoly. Because u going to get signals from them only even with CAS. Only thing is you have 2 pay more money for same channels to them or cut down your pay channels to reduce bills. Even u cut down channels; u r bound to pay for set top box !! Cable operators monopoly can only be broken it u opt for DTH service like Tata Sky; but in any case TV Channels will continue to have monopoly.

If u think in positive manner with little bit patience, the we can turn the pay channels to free for our own benefit and break away TV channel owners monopoly. Hope u think in all aspects !!

Do you really think the all the pay channels will turn to free channels ... thats pretty impossible, even they need to make profit . Paid channels cant run on advertisers alone . I think cas system is pretty good bcoz i am sure there are hardly 20-30 channels i need .. and also there will be channel packages ( like espn-star in 1 pack ... and also other channels having same owners) . Only thing i hate is one connection for 1 TV .. it was too easy to split cable wire in two

the basic idea of paid channels was to make them advertisement free. but we see more and more advertising on highly paid channels like espn star.

i had like them to broadcast a formula 1 race with no ads WHEN the actual racing is taking place. but no. that was not the case. things were pathetic in the most recent season.

heh. they would have to. the governmetn is on their toes.someone or the other would file a PIL if they do anything not like that.

censorship is not and has never been a logical thing, so yeah, it will probably continue. And as far as pay channels and being ad-free goes, hell, we have advertisements on VCDs that the consumer pays for totally. The basic problem is that of the absence of consumer standards/information coupled with a monopolistic grip various people have on the industries.

i hate the 30% screen covered with advertising on local television channels. they use the brightest colors possible.
