Fair Usage Policy on Hathway Broadband

some of the ISP have this Fair Usage Policy so that people dont take mis-advantage of the unltd plan. this Fair Usage Policy depends on TRAI which regulates ISPs

did u pay for 6 months in advance or u pay montly and what is the name of the unlimited 512 plan

do u have any idea about NIVYAH BROADBAND they have low rates with 2-3 times the speed of HATHWAY



I paid for 3 months in advance so accordingly i will have to wait till october..Its called the new happyway 512...yeah Ive heard about nivyah broadband and their dirt cheap rates..I had asked them for their plan and they have sent me a PDF doc.. If i can get that here then it would be great
so that people dont take mis-advantage of the unltd plan.

what is there to take advantage of ...if it says ulimited it has to be unlimited..u can do anything u want to..there should be no restrictions..

i too got a pdf document but i read one article on this forum about their services so wanted to take opinion of the ones who use it.

TRAI has nothing to do with fair usage policies. they do not have any regulation in place related to FUP. though we hope they soon make one.


i had read somewhere or on the websites of the ISPs that FUP is in accordance with the TRAI guidelines

according to me FUP should not be there at all - IT SUCKS

i download over 50gb in bsnl on 512kbps......and hathway giving only 20gb.....hathway suck.....shifting bck to 256kbps ........totally waste of money on hathway...crap ISP

MTNL is pretty much the ONLY ISP which does NOT have FUP. Airtel, Tata etc all have FUP.

Of course I've heard of FiveNet. I used to live in Dadar. If you're downloading 20GB per day you must have at least 2mbit/s unlimited. As I understand they are pretty strong with locally available DC++ servers.

But if you read my message, I said MTNL is *PRETTY MUCH* the only ISP - and since FiveNet is only available in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, I wasn't including them in the list (whereas Hathway and the others is fairly widely available nationwide, and MTNL is available both in Mumbai and Delhi, albeit with different plans/pricing). From memory, BSNL unfortunately has FUPs on most plans over 256kbit/s.

Either way, ISPs without FUPs are rare, and getting rarer.

all i wanted to say is that they don't have any fair usage policy and yes.. by 20 GB per day i meant Dc++ only (which is what they consider as a part of download and not your zonal data transfer )

So they have a similar policy to ours - except we wouldn't even mind if you did 20GB an hour on local DC++ (about 46mbit/s).
