Fake data usage reporting by Act Broadband. Customer support is not helping.

Just got a call from someone at act. Don't know if its because I complained here or because I complained 4 times through phone.

I explained (shouted) my problem to that guy and plainly told him to disconnect my connection if he can't resolve my problem and he was apologetic and reset my fup. I asked what if the same problem occurs next time and he said he'll monitor my connection to see if anything fucky is going on. but the moment he said he reset my fup, I get a message from act saying my complaint is being closed while I was still on the call. This makes me believe that the guy on phone reset my fup just to make me shut up and this same problem will continue next month. Lets see
 
FUP was reset for me too today. Technician told me that they have upgraded to a new version of data usage tool. It created problems for few people. They have formed a new team to take care of those people who have FUP issues it seems.
 
This is unacceptable. What if my dad was the one using the net? He would never have noticed the data discrepancy and carried on nonchalantly. This is exactly like volkswagen CEO saying I don't know about those software fudging, take this 5rs and gtfo
 
Thats why i said in my earlier post, you have to contest.....you said you dont want to.....see until customers dont contest, they will keep doing the same practise. Change can only happen when you take initiative and pain.

i did contest in my case and they accepted the mistake. also fixed the issue for my connection permanently.

Anyways hope after reset you problem gets resolved.

Most ISPs do not provide accurate data usage it has always been spiked. Take any plan with has FUP and you will end up needing more GBs . The usage of 78GB popping up when the connection was not even active is a clear case of how ISP take customers for a ride. I still remember those days when there were no bill caps and the hefty bills generated even when the data was not consumed.
 
Im fucking done with this shit!

Yesterday they reset my FUP and Today I check my usage and its showing 13.5GB usage. But BitmeterOS shows 1.5gb usage today :( WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS ACT?!

As per the technician who called me before resetting my FUP told me that, with the new tool for data usage in place, some IPs were not pushed(or got missed) to the new tool. Whoever's IP missed out, had wrong usage issues. May be your FUP was reset but your IP was not pushed to the new tool. He was saying, for DHCP users it was not a problem but for people with MAC binding enabled or private static IP it was a problem.
