HiI have an MTNL Triband Connection and use a D-Link 502T Router.I have two computers and have connected them both to the router via the USB and Ethernet slots respectively. I use DHCP to assign IP addresses to both computers, and can successfully access the internet, download files, forward ports for torrents etc using this setup.I do not have a lan setup at home, and the only connection between the two computers is via the router. My Question is - Is it possible for me to share data (File transfer) between my two computers via the router? Any help would be appreciated, Pardon my noobness.

yes it should very much be possible... try finding out the ip address of system A and system B..... then try to ping the other system....... if it pings great and directly go to internet explorer and type "//192.x.x.x" i.e. the IP address of the other systemIf it does not ping then it is because of the OS firewall and u will have to either allow or disable the same.....I had not tried this kind of connection... but i had tried another way....connect system A to router via USB..... Connect system A to System B via ethernet.....Share internet connection of System A so that u can access internet connection in System B as well.....Let me know if the first case worked for you or no..... if not then i'll tell you the second procedure which will work sureshot.... coz i have done it :-)

Since they're on the same network (guaranteed by DHCP), just go to My Network Places.. and you should see the "Shared Public folders" for both the computers.Just right click on a drive or folder, click on the sharing tab and enable sharing.. Click Apply.. It should appear in your Network places.. ~Praj
