Flipkart: Stones instead of Apple iPod Fiasco

^ The weight would change na. If you replace an iPod with a couple of stones, the weight of the package will increase.
Let's assume that some courier guy stole this.
So, at source weight = 200gm (iPod)
Hub1 = 200gm
Hub2 = 800gm (the deed was done here and the whole package was repacked)
Hub3 = 800gm
Destination = 800gm
So, Hub2 is responsible. Knowing this, it's not that difficult to conduct an investigation.
 
If the person is smart, he would replace the ipod with stones that are equivalent in weight. I mean he would know that the weights are measured at every checkpoint right?
My query was how would Flipkart prove that consumer stole the product and is pretending that the package came loaded with stones? :)
 
I guess they can't. Even if they could, that is not their primary concern as of now. That stone image is getting lot of attention atm. As of now Flipkart's immediate concern is to contain this situation and don't let it become a PR nightmare. If it is that guy's trick then he is surely lucky.
 
^ I don't think they would be worried about that (even if the claim is false). Between losing ~15k and gaining negative publicity, I think they would choose the former any day.
 
And how do they stop it from happening again and again? If one guy gets away with it, others would try. Fine, social media would not be interested in the next case. But still. It's a nightmare for any online store.

Increasing the reach of their own delivery service to smaller towns and totally eliminate the dependency on courier services?
 
they would become a courier company rather than an online store then :) the sheer number of products out of stock on their store is already becoming a headache for their customers :)
