FM radio mandatory on all smartphones, can't be disabled: Government

Indian government has issued an advisory for mobile phone makers to ensure that FM radio is enabled on all smartphones.

I think it's good, cell towers can fail and don't have same range as FM/AM. So in an event of a disaster it is useful to have a radio in your pocket.

This would be a challenge to implement especially on devices with no 3.5mm jack since the earphones connected to it acted as an antenna.

I have Nokia 2660 Flip phone which has Wireless FM Radio. So FM works even if Headphone is not inserted in 3.5 mm jack. With headphone inserted FM reception improves.

Govt should make mmwave,600 mhz spectrum and worldwide volte,vowifi and vonr support mandatory for all smartphones in India many Chinese phones getting away with by selling indian versions of the smartphones with no support aboard
