MUMBAI: North-East TV group's 'Focus TV', a women-centric channel, will go on air from 8 March on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Positioned as Asia's first news and current affairs channel dedicated to women, Focus TV will capture the strength and accomplishments of women globally.
Telecast in Hindi and English, the channel will also showcase a variety of women-based shows.

"With this medium, we will highlight all issues pertaining to women so that they gain confidence in themselves and become aware of their rights. Our USP will be the 'reality factor'. Through this channel, we are ready to give saas-bahu sagas a tough fight for TRPs since we present the sagas of real women," said Focus TV deputy managing editor Neelanjana Banerjee.
"The channel will be available on cable TV networks and DTH platforms including Airtel, Big TV, Sun Direct and Dish TV initially. It will take at least two weeks to be available on Tata Sky," said Banerjee.

The North East Group, which runs NE TV, NE Bangla and NE Hi-fi, plans to launch Hamar TV, a multi-lingual Bhojpuri news and current affairs channel, and HY TV, a channel aimed at the cosmopolitan population residing in South India.
