MUMBAI: Rupert Murdoch-controlled Fox Group, part of News Corporation, is planning to bring six channels into India as part of its expansion plans to tap the emerging platforms such as , direct-to-home (DTH), and IPTV. Fox has applied to the ministry of information and and is awaiting clearance.
The six channels are Fox Crime, Baby TV, FX (Fox extended), National Geographic Adventure, National Geographic Wild and National Geographic Music, sources say.
The channels from the Star stable will be distributed by Star Den, a 50:50 joint venture between Star India and Digital Network.
"We will be adding the channels from the Fox stable once they are cleared by the MIB," a source in the company says.
Star Den is distributing all the channels which were earlier distributed domestically by Star India. It is also adding the Network18 channels including CNBC TV18, CNBC Awaaz, CNN-IBN and IBN7 with effect from 1 April.
