Freecharge News & Updates

Paytm is reportedly interested but want exclusive access to Snapdeal and Flipkart wallet payments.

SoftBank may sell Freecharge at 50% discount for $200m - Times of India

A person directly aware of the development said the Vijay Shekhar Sharma-led Paytm was approached by SoftBank few months back when Jasper Infotech was seeking a valuation of at least $500 million for Freecharge. "A lot has changed with both Snapdeal and Freecharge in the last quarter. Paytm is interested in Freecharge but only if the math is reworked. It also wants exclusive rights along with the deal to become the sole payments platform for Flipkart and Snapdeal," a person privy to the matter told TOI.

Our journey with you has been amazing so far. Here's something new that we are sure you would love. Now every time you pay a bill or recharge using FreeCharge, get coupons from your favourite brands.
What's more? You get to choose multiple coupons on each transaction! So what's holding you back?

Is this even new? I thought this was in place for ages.

1 payment app less from my phone :D
I anyways never had balance in Freecharge, and forgot to install it back after I formatted phone recently.

if they shutdown freecharge, they would just remove those bar codes no? Im still salty about freecharge regarding my 200rs cashback I was supposedto get. F them and their unprofessional service

would break payment gateway integrations too. not sure what they would gain. flipkart did not shut down myntra or jabong. though they did shut down letsbuy.com but that was years ago :D

I think both brands would continue under single owner (Paytm in this case) like Flipkart continued acquired brands or like MakeMyTrip and iBibo.
Offtopic: Even read somewhere that Idea and Vodafone may remain and operate separately after their merger.
