Since 9V AC adaptor rating is 9Vrms and it comes to ~12V p-p, I figured 12V DC may not be too far from this rating. So, I went ahead and connected 12V DC/1A to MT882. It works like charm :yahoo:, even with my invertor supply of ~200V AC. The performance is very stable (over the last 12 hours) compared to the same with the 9V AC adaptor. Summary: One could buy a 12V DC/1A adaptor from a corner store and use it with MT882.

Update after 5 days of extensive usage: There are no issues during any time of the day with direct line supply or invertor supply. So, 12V dC adaptor works good for MT882 modem. Enjoy ...

Hey,you are not alone.Me too got the same problem.iNet Connection disconnects frequently during night hours (2-8am).im using Huawei modem. i dont think its a modem problem, but cud be the prob wt BSNL itself. Might the connection is disconnected due to heavy over-load of night users. there is a possibility also. becose, BSNL always puts the customer in trouble, since the day launched theBB plan.:madness:

Abhilash,I think we are talking about two different problems. My issue was that the modem was inconsistent during the normal day time. Additionally the modem was not connecting at all when there was power cut and hence the power was supplied through UPS (invertor). This was because of the fact that the invertor voltage was ~200VAC. hence the 9V AC adaptor (which is nothing but a transformer) was giving lower voltage to the modem which inturn could not generate a nice 5V DC supply. Once I used 12V DC adaptor instead of 9VAC adaptor, the problem got solved for all scenarios. Your problem seems to be that of BSNL though.
