Ridley Scott Gives ‘Gladiator’ Sequel Update, Says Script Is Being “Written Now”

The director says he'll begin focusing on the anticipated follow-up to his Oscar-winning historical epic when he's finished Napoleon drama 'Kitbag.'

“I’m already having [the next] Gladiator written now,” the 83-year-old Oscar-nominated director told Empire magazine. “So when I’ve done Napoleon, Gladiator will be ready to go.”

The sequel was first announced in November 2018 and is slated to follow Lucius, the son of Connie Nielsen’s Lucilla and nephew of Joaquin Phoenix’s power-hungry and immoral Commodus. The film would be picking up around 25 years after the original.

One day Ridley Scott will realise the benefit of retirement and lying on a beach.. But it will be too late by then.

The guy who wrote Napoleon also wrote this movie. And that's all you need to know if you ever decide to watch this.
