Ah, yes, I can see those little +1 boxes now!I wonder if Google penalises people for pushing their own buttons! hahahaI want to click it for my homepage on the net...
google +1 is very different from the facebook like or twitter tweet buttons. google buzz was the me too thing. google +1 would be hidden from view. they would not be broadcast anywhere. they would only be visible to you on your google profile. i cannot see what links you have +1. tweets and likes have a very high annoyance factor. any link is share through twitter and facebook is sent to all my friends. if i do it for multiple links in a short duration, people starts complaining. google +1 does not have that problem. it is a passive recommendation tool. the pages i +1 would be highlighted on the search results of my friends and other social connections. this makes it much more powerful and useful than tweets or likes. i bet web publishers would prefer their readers pressing this button over tweet/like button. tweets and likes have a very short duration of usability. google +1 is constant. you are going to see it on the top section as soon as it is launched. ----I am frustrated with Buzz. I mean they have a scrapbook on Orkut and then they have Buzz. We already had a sharing button for Google Buzz, and now we have one for Google +1. Earlier we had a star on search results for Google Bookmarks and now we have Google +1. Google needs to start merging their services that conflict with each other. I personally think that Google +1 is superior to both Twitter Tweet and Facebook Like button for two reasons... It is passive sharing. Any link you +1 is not spammed to all your followers. Not everyone wants to get spammed with links from random websites. And of course it affects personalized rankings. Merging Google +1 and Buzz would be a mistake. But Google definitely has to decide on what they want to do with Buzz. One funny thing I have noticed for a while now... Google has highlighted Twitter and Facebook buttons on YouTube for sharing. Buzz is hidden with the rest of the services. Of course, Google +1 would now feature with Twitter and Facebook buttons prominently. But the funny thing remains. Google itself did do enough to promote the Buzz button on their own network. You would never see Facebook using rival sharing buttons on their own network!
added the google +1 button to the forum pages. here is my sincere request to all the members of the forum. use it. i understand why you might not want to use the facebook like or twitter tweet button here because you do not want to annoy your friends with irrelevant topics. but google +1 is a passive recommendation service that you can actually use. it would help me!i have to admit that i am rather surprised by the lack of tweets and likes i see on a forum like this full of techies. i just hope that more people would be using the google +1 button considering it works in a very different fashion compared to tweets and likes! this is one way you can contribute to the growth of the forum. and your +1s could help your friends in finding useful content on this forum too in the future.
