Android One I believe is slightly cheaper than Moto E.

No camera flash is biggest con of Moto E. Plus point is gorilla glass and slightly superior build quality. I think its splash resistance as well.

Android one offers larger display without gorilla class, camera probably of same quality but with flash, quad core processor (although mediatek) and updates straight from Google.

Decide what parameters weight for you.

Why not try developer preview of lollipop if you have nexus device? You can revert back to older system in couple of minutes if you are rooted with custom recovery.

Hopefully, few days but OTA will take time to reach to all devices. Factory image is expected to be out anytime now.
