I got the Play Services update alongwith the new Play Store today, just in time to try this out.

Didn't knew this would come to my cheapo but good phone so fast,
Just clicked on web link and found everything was already setup, just gave the permission to remotely wipe from phone.
however it rang on full volume before this permission too.
Two things worth noting
1). Accurate location (pin point infact)
2). the interface couldn't be simpler, it precise with no bullshit.

Ringing does not require permission. Remote wipe requires administrative permissions. I guess Google wanted to give a preview of the less scary feature to users who are not exactly followers of Android blogs.
Frankly speaking, if my dad had an Android phone, he would never find out about these features on his own.
