Google Play Music (RIP)

Is the launch official? I mean this feature should work in India now right?

Maybe All Access would be launched when the official announcement is made?

I guess we may get some news on 4th Oct.

Google held a major India specific event already this week where they announced a bunch of new products and services. Google Nexus launch event has nothing to do with India.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Plus iirc, there has been no official communication from Google about the Play Music India launch, so they might drop in a few words about that on 4th...

Today I activated my Google Play Music and giving below the process and first impressions:
1. Open your PC and download Google Play Music App in your PC.
2. Start the App. Follow the steps. You will be asked to give details of Credit or Debit Card for verification of Resident Status in India
. Now comes the catch.
I tried with Debit Cards issued by Two Banks (one MasterCard and another Visa) but both of them got rejected. Then reluctantly used my International Credit Card which was accepted. I thought it was only verification of my Resident Status for India as stated but surprise. I got an SMS " A transaction for Rs. 50 has been done at Google Services # US".
Anyway, got App activated.
3. You can only upload your stored songs using PC. Cannot upload existing songs using any other devices. I uploaded about 50 songs from my PC.
4. Played the songs using Chromecast Audio from my Android Smartphone as well as PC. Before I was casting WYNK and SAAVN. So I wanted to see the difference is quality of sound.
I was taken a back. The Quality of playback thro Chromecast was SUPERB. Easily beats other apps I have used so far. Being a musician myself, now I will not go back to other apps. in India.
Forgot that I lost fifty bucks...was worth it

you. all international services do a test deduction to verify credit card. it would not be deducted.

and use the desktop app instead of browser to upload songs. most songs would be just identified and added from their own database so a lot of effort is saved.

too bad all access is not launched yet. i have like 18000 songs stored on the account but they are mostly old stuff. do not want to buy/download individual songs to keep it updated.

I bought one song which has instruments with frequencies ranging from 25 Hz to 20k to check the app. Was satisfied playing through Chromecast Audio.

Found it the hard way.

Support tells me that you need an international card to buy songs. Gift cards are not allowed to buy music.

I am now stuck with this money. I don't want to waste it on movies or ebooks. And I doubt I support enough developers to finish up these funds.
