i merged the threads. googlemusic india already exists and is not a beta service. it just catalog songs hosted by third party services. google music was launched in USA today. it is a music store similar to Apple itunes. i merged all the threads related to google music on the forum so that caused the confusion.
google had announced the event a couple of days ago. though it was pretty clear that google music launch was scheduled for today. they are doing a couple of interesting things. it is pretty much a hybrid edition that offers features from itunes and Spotify.you can upload your own music to the cloud for free. stream it for free. and you can purchase songs and those are added to your account for streaming as well.
But streaming data costs money and may hurt those with limited data plans :/ i mean buy a microSD card and load up the songs.whats there in that! (ofcourse that doesn't apply to iPhone users but all the other smartphones)
well. streaming might not work out well here in india but it seems to be doing well in usa and europe. services like Spotify and pandora are largely stream only. most of these services offer offline caching of limited songs.
