Ok this is actually related to old news. But I cud not find that one being posted.

Oracle had sued Google a year back but its first time that its revealed that claim is such a huge one. SIX BILLION DOLLARS!!

Google's inability to acquire Nortel patents is going to hurt Android big time in the coming months/years.

Sony is one of the members of the group that acquired the patents. Let's hope they do the needful and license them to Google.

Google should have collaborated with all the major Android device manufacturers to take on this coalition. Google along with Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG and Sony should work closely together to protect the Android ecosystem. They are the ones dependent upon it and they need to do better to protect it.

Winners? Apple, EMC, Ericsson, Microsoft, Research In Motion and Sony.

Interesting. Nokia is covered via Microsoft. Apple is covered. All of Android is screwed. Wow. Unless Sony plays the Messiah. Or Google really plans to take the world by surprise by not using any of these patents

google has indirectly admitted that this is bad for the android platform. bad for the open mobile ecosystem. they have not made an official statement but it is bad news. they were willing to pay 900 million dollars. these companies collaborated. paid 5 times the money.

god damn. htc, samsung, LG and Sony... what were these guys doing?
