In the old orkut there was an option to send invites. Couldn't find one in this one though.

mmm. sending an invite to connect with you on orkut is different from sending an invite to get your friend to access the new orkut. funny thing is that gmail still shows invite a friend box with invites left! i have 82. want one?

I still remember the initial days when there would be 5 invites, and people would use great discretion in deciding whom to invite. And now this box just lies useless on the left corner of the screen.

either they do not think its worth the time to remove that option or gmail is still not open officially in some nations. read the new recently that bing was out of beta in UK. i mean i can search through bing.com fine. whats with the beta tag for UK?
