Foregin banks & private banks will not work in rural areas.They will limit themselves in cities.I never saw them in tier-II towns.No matter even if RBI forces them to open new branches in rural areas,they will not.I have seen them opening branches in city outskirts..not in actual rural areas.

No one is stopping PSUs to do what they want to do. Why do they have a say in hurting the businesses of private banks? If it was not for private banks, PSUs would still be doing banking the old fashioned way. In fact, things have not changed much. SBI branch in my local sector... The people operating it are just as rude as you would find in any government office.

May be that's the case in your area.In my area most of the PSB's are working fine just like private banks.

None of my cousins in relatively rural areas of Panipat are dealing with PSU Banks anymore. Most of them have shifted to private banks because of better quality of service.
If government banks in Gurgaon especially my sector which has like 6-7 bank branches (SBI/ICICI/Yes/HDFC/Andhra/Axis/IndusInd/Corporation/a few more) cannot treat customers with reasonable respect... I had rather see them die a painful death.
