GPRS/EDGE issues.plz help out.

hey guyz,am getting a strange prob.yesterday i bought my new Sony ericsson S500i and sms ed airtel to enable edge on it. they sent me in reply that my phone is not edge enabled.what should i do.I know that my phone is EDGE enabled but still getting this reply .plz help.

Lol!They sound similar Mtnl CC....Anyway no need to tell them about edge just ask them to activate Gprs ...... now if your handset got edge it will automatically latch to higher speed.

kya GHANTA experience.i called them.they activated gprs on my mob.when i checked the speeds by connecting it to my comp. it was connected at 115kbps but when i saw the actual speeds ,i got speeds of only 35kbps and DL speed of only btw 4-4.5 kbps.
I have Sony ericsson S500i an edge enabled phone(which u can check from any mobile phone website).first,they say my phone is not edge enabled then they dont give gud speeds.
come on yaar 35kbps is nothing,today we have moved to 'upto' 2mbps speeds
and what is this?
damn dying speeds.
is there any way i can increase my speed.i live in north delhi(rohini),i think the speeds are gprs like due to unavailability of edge services in my area(which im not sure of).
