TLDR: In Device Manager, Open Realtek Wireless LAN Adapter Properties and disable 802.11d.

Background:

I've had speed issues where I am only getting <10mbps speed on even Local Network on my new HP 14s. I've scoured through HP, Lenovo Microsoft, Tomshardware forums for a week looking for help.

There were threads going back 5+ years and from 2022 and the most widely accepted solution was to buy another non realtek wifi adapter card or return the laptop.

That's when I decided to painstakingly lookup what all the properties of the adapter in Device Manager and found what 802.11d does. Tbh it's supposed to be disabled on most newer wlan adapter cards but realtek hasn't changed a thing since ever. But after I've disabled it without even reconnecting my speeds have maxed out beyond my connection speed, 67mbps instead of 60mbps (ah BSNL..), LAN transfers are fast af.

The problem:
After finding this fix I've added 802.11d to my old search terms and found two mentions to disable this on HP's website. A normal user looking for an answer will never find this. All responses are the same driver updates, powershell commands, and stuff that makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. I needed somewhere to post this so I'm posting here as a new thread which Google hopefully ranks higher. I can't respond to the basically 1000+ threads across multiple forums for this issue.

Hope this helps someone.
