I recently got my old Excitel router replaced by a new one and got a GX Titanium T21 Pro router. It comes with a USB port and shares a SMB protocol over the network. I have two HDDs both WD, one is old 300GB 2.0 and a new 5TB 3.0 HDD. I formatted both to NTFS and connected, the 300GB one is detected and is visible on the SMB. But the 5TB is not, it does power up and spin, but the router doesn't show any USB. I thought it could be a power issue, I tried it with both 12v 1A and 12v 1.5A power adapters and the results were same.

Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this?

If my memory serves me correctly, I had the same issue some 3 years ago on my Asus router, and later figured that my 1TB drive was a proper 2.5 inch, and the 5TB drive is thicker than a regular 2.5" drive. I read on some forum that the router would not be able to power the bigger drive, and needs a separate power supply. I promptly bought an ASUS workstation and plopped a 3.5" 20TB drive in it, and its been running ever since.

But in Excitel and GX devices its not related to power supply, you need to fully unlock tha device to do so.
