Hathway Broadband is now using Reliance Jio gateway which means all Jio blocked services are now blocked on it

I would like to request this forum's mod/admin to kindly tag this post to both Jio's and Hathway's threads, as it kind of relates to both of them.

Okay, so here it is. I'll tell you exactly how it all started...

Till yesterday, I was able to access all the torrent sites (link-removed, link-removed, etc) and some really good sites (hub and all that....) without any problem. I was having a jolly good time too. Everything was going fine, I was happy with my life (or so I've been telling myself).

What I didn't knew was that my happiness was predestined to be short and limited. Thanks to motabhai.

I had my semester exams today, and because of how boring and dry my exam was, I decided to download the recently released Captain Marvel from link-removed on coming home. But on opening the site, instead of seeing the good stuff, here's what I was greeted with:

Feeling disappointed, I tried some more sites. What I noticed is that, basically all those sites that are blocked in Jio, are now also blocked in Hathway. Nothing works anymore. Even changing the DNS also doesn't help, which wasn't the case earlier.

So, I performed a trace route on the most common site - google.com. And here's the result:

Here's what I found after after a detailed inspection:
Traceroute IP list :
1. My router
2. Hathway's Kolkata Node
3. Hathway's Mumbai Node
4. Jio's Mumbai Node
5-8. Some Internal IPs
9. Google's Gateway
10. The Final Destination

This means that, from now on, whatever blocking that we have on Jio, all Hathway's customers are going to face the same too.

This blocking has affected Mumbai since 4 months now. They have even blocked all proxies of sites like link-removed, link-removed. But PIA Open VPN works to unblock everything. But Netflix and Amazon Prime video have actively started blocking PIA VPN.

You can always go to unblocked .lat remove space to visit 'private sites' on any internet gateway

Installed Hathway today and mine is still routed via Airtel I guess. I am not able to see any IP's in traceroute but I can see an Airtel error page if I try and access any blocked torrent site.

Anyway they are in process of rebranding Hathway to Jio as per their sales rep, which may take a few more months and existing hathway customers will be migrated to Jio Fibre.

are you sure H-fiber will soon be upgraded to jio fiber?

Personally, between Hathway broadband and H-Fiber, I think H-Fiber has the highest chance of getting migrated first. The reasons being:-

1. It is a pure FTTH connection already
2. Data is already being routed through Reliance Jio's Gateways.

Now, here are two rumours that I've heard. I'm pretty sure, only one among them might be true. I'm unsure which one.

Rumour 1: Jio will never lay OFC in places where Hathway's (and also Den's) FTTH network is already present. They will just use the existing infrastructure and connect it with their network. And user will get the option to choose from either Hathway or Jio using the same connection.

Rumour 2: In places where there is already Hathway/Den OFC network, Jio will provide their connection earlier. After their network is connected and the existing infrastructure of both the companies are tuned up, all one has to do is replace the existing ONU with Jio GigaHub home gateway. And this way, Jio will rebrand the existing companies.

Either way, whether Hathway remains or gets replaced by Jio, those with FTTH might be the ones to experience Jio faster.

^ That's what I've heard as well. Jio wants to use the Hathway's existing OFC network and the migration process will be quick for ftth customers.
