Help me choosing ISP

Hello John HereI live in CA, I'm here in India for some work.Apparently I'm here to get feed videos all day and send the feed to our NY office at night.Guys here at Imperial Hotel have provided a connection which is dead slow...It took two hours to upload 15 ,mins of feed..I can't work like this...My agent sucks and he basically screwed me and left...Which ISP provides the best upload speed in India...

Why didn't you bring your own usb adapter to use wifi networks for internet.
Look at me i carry my usb adapter wherever i go, so i get free internet wherever unsecured networks are found.

I recently bought a usb adapter with 600 mw high power with 5dbi antenna with range upto 1.5 km, its so powerful finds 30 -40 wifi networks from my house.

I know its illegal but what to do i wasn't having any cash mann!!


Ask that to the idiots at KTLA...

Wifi networks ? I'm not sure I'll be finding any of 'em.How much uptime and speed (max) in reliance wireless and what about tata photonI had verizon in CA...Anything like that and what about the service...Will it be the same in rural areas...??

My guess is that you are here for a short duration ...for which the quick kill and the best solution will be to take a 3G mobile connection from Airtel or Vodafone
I would suggest you to take a Vodafone prepaid connection - top it up with 1000 bucks and take 850 Bucks 3GB data plan ...should give you 4-5 Mbps speed.

But if you are here for a long duration ...then its advisable to go for a leased line/broadband plan

For best "UPLOAD" speeds ...what will you suggest ?

I am pretty sure he will not have enough documentation (Indian residence proof) to get a postpaid/lease line connection

I agree with you that 3 GB is not enough ...
He can eiither
1) Reduce the resolution of the video feed while transferring
2) Keep taking 3GB plan as a top up whenever the first 3GB plans' data gets over (for him its just 20$ ...and he can bill the company ..if he is on official work)

Basically, as he's staying at a hotel, he's between a rock and a hard place - I too was in this position for the first couple of months that I was in India!Obviously a wired connection is out of the question, and the wireless options, although "faster", are probably too limited in data-transfer allocations. His company (or the Indian company that his US company is working with) should be able to supply the necessary documentation or get him a device to use. If he has a business visa (which I assume he does), it's also slightly more possible to be able to get a SIM from any provider if the hotel is willing to provide evidence that he stays there.

If ur In delhi get MTNL 3G 4500 recharge it will give u 6 months validity upload and download will depend on the area u in.....it can be as much as 2MBps.

dnt go fr photon plus its nt even 3G some ignorant ppl recommend it fr ppl who require high speeds.


btw dnt even bother calling tata photon cc or they will make ur life hell for a month by repeatedly calling to buy it even when u tell them nt interested.

I took a demo of photon plus sm time back upload was 20KBps and dwnd 40KBps....when I refused to buy it kept getting calls from cc even the guy who came fr the demo I had a hard time letting him understand I don't want to buy a product which has crap speeds. waste of time !
