Help me configure internet connection on my other laptop (networking?)

Right now I am having a BSNL wireless broadband connection configured on my laptop with OS "Vista". I want to configure internet connection to my other lap with OS win XP. How do I go with the configuring?ThanksSpencer Jones

If in Wireless mode, for the laptop with XP OS
Start/ All programs/Accessories/ Wireless network connection wizard.
or test with ethernet connection first. from the modem.

Make sure your wireless is protected well ! When you see a balloon with 'wireless network available', click on it, and double click on the network you see (yours), and give the key when it asked (if it is secured) !

Oww please tell me how to check it when it's connected. I am in Vista right now. And when I checked the wireless connection properties and click security - I see that security type - open and encryption - none.

Does this mean that my internet is not secure?

please advice

From one of my previous post

I am not sure about which router you have,

I will give you a vague idea !

login to http://192.168.1.1 and enter username/password . Normally it is admin/admin

Click on wireless -> Basic Wireless
Enable wireless [Check that box]
in SSID, give some name (you can change that utstarcom)
then click on save/apply

Now click on Security tab
For a beginner, you can click network authentication as open, WEP encryption key enabled, and choose 128 bit,
choose 1
then type any 13 Hexa digits (0-9, A-F) in 1st row !

eg :ABCDEFFEDCBA4 (total 13) Letter CASE matters !

then save n apply


now open network connection, check for wireless network, see the name you have mentioned, double click it, give the 13 digit key when asked for encryption key !

You should be able to browse with security enabled ! Dont ever keep your wireless open to public !

I cannot access the 192.168.1.1 but my internet properties says my default getway is 10.10.1.1 so i tried it and the login screen is appearing. But the admin/admin isn't working, i tried several username passwords, but still no luck. What to do?

1. In Laptop with XP : ( assuming your Laptop computer with Vista is connected to Internet in Wi fi mode )
connect the Rj45 cable to ethernet port of XP.
Start/Network/Lan/properties/ TCP/IP properties.
Obtain Ip address automatically.
Apply.
Check you can connect to Internet. Disconnect rj45 from laptop with XP OS.
If Ok Start/Accessories/communications/wireless network wizard.
Follow instructions.
Go to Network / Wireless network .
What error message you get ?

Followed the step, but internet connection was not established.

always give as much details as possible if you want to get your problem solve faster.are you using bridge mode(in which you use windows to connect) or pppoe mode(in which you get connected by just turning on the modem)?type ipconfig /all in command prompt(type cmd in run box) on PC & laptop & post results here.also did you take a look at the configuration steps for sl2_141 in the link posted by essbebe in his post just after your 1st post.

I have D-Link type 2 "GLB-502T" modem and bsnl connection. I want to share connection between desktop(XP) (using lan), and laptop (vista)(using usb). I am already using from my desktop by lan, would like to use it on laptop too, as someone told me that i can use if you have type 2 modem.

Please help me. I have changed from starter 250 to 750 unlimited which is effected from 01-08-2008.
