Help Needed:HTC Inspire 4G does not work

My friend just got a new HTC Inspire 4G, at&t branding, unlocked from USA.
The problem is, it does not start/switch on
While getting charged, it switches on and works normally. Once you take out the cable, it goes off.
Subsequent efforts to switch on while not connected to USB cable/power cable end up in HTC logo being flashed and nothing displayed.
Please help!

Looks like a bad battery.

The same thing happened to me about a month ago. It is internal damange. Dont bother going and buying a battery. Call att, and if you have insurance they will replace it for, I think, $125. Im sorry
