We have about 4 PCs, and one laptop, using the same connection through a Linksys router. Current phone bills are around 10-12,000/- and plan is DSL 749. Usage would be around 5-6 GB.Please advise.

Assuming your monthly data transfer of 5GB these will be your approximate bill on the mentioned plans.

DSL 749 Re.1.00 (per MB)
749+3840(for extra 5-1.25GB)=4589:madness:

DSL 599 Rs.0.80 (per MB)
599+3276(for extra 4-1GB)=3875:wall:

DSL TriB 1199 Rs.0.80 (per MB)
1199+2457(for extra 5-2GB)=3656:whistle:

DSL 2399 Rs.0.70 (per MB)
2399+716(for extra 1GB)=3115:thumbsup:

Based on my calculation DSL 2399 will be the best as it provides 4GB of data transfer and the rest is billed @ just Rs. 0.7.

I hope these calculations are right :yahoo:

Now its you to decide :)

@srk006I'm sure u won a maths olympiad at school.Awesome incisive and accurate cost benifit analysis

Go for TATA Indicom 512 kbps unlimited. (ONLY if they are giving ADSL connections in your area)

AFAIK Tata is providing broadband through cable. And the reviews of TATA are not that good. Its better to stay away from them. :)

Thanks everyone, for your inputs. I think DSL 2399 Rs.0.70 (per MB) would be good. What's the easiest way to change the plan? Do I have to provide the CA no.? (Phone bill is in the office right now) Or will only the phone number do? When would the new plan get activated?

Judging from your post, your concern is not speed, but your bills. So I suggest that you shift to an unlimited plan with the same speed. It's a pity you live in Mumbai, otherwise you would have the 949 Unlimited. Try going for Airtel. It's the most stable ISP in Mumbai (from what I know) after MTNL.

I am one of the reviewers who berate TATA Indicom, and i have a cable based connection.

However, their ADSL based connections are pretty good (Details : TataIndicom Personal - internet adsl).
