yes. that was much needed.. but then .. what will the difference be between DTH and CAS.. b;'coz CAS has rs5 per channel and if the same is applied to DTH then our bills will go upto 500rs or more..

TRAI has to be careful in deciding he channel rate for customer b'coz if they put it as rs2 per channel then it will be good for us.. but then there will be a fight from CAS to reduce the rates for them. I hope this happens too for us .

But overall good is news is for Tata Sky b'coz now they can pick Zee sports and Zee telugu and Zee smile etc.. and add it to their packages..
Hi jjvj,

I dont think the prices will go upto 500 since it is very rare that someone is interested in a 100 channels. I guess there will be about 30 channels (sports movie channels and news channels) which everyone in India would be interested in. There will probably be around 20 regional channels that people would be interested. That will be aroung 50 channels that a subscriber would be interested in. This would be 250 rs per month if the rate per channel is 5. That should be fine I guess.

Yes you are right. And Dth operator know that common man in India wont afford to pay 500rupees per month.Yes you are right.

yay...good news...will go for dth from december once all this becomes more clear.

It would have been nice if TRAI had ruled that the same facility of picking channels al-carte must be extended to customers as well, because I don't give two hoots about the majority of channels on either DTH service.

Everybody has to be satisfied with TRAI. Otherwise they will go to TDSAT. If that doesn't work out, they will go to HC and then SC. It will take months if not years before anything favouring the consumer actually happens. Till then its is business as usual for all concerned.

Now its time TRAI takes a serious look at the broadband also. Atleast change the definition of broadband to some thing like 2mbps/4mbps. :)

No problem. Now all those who offer 64kbps and above as broadband, have to make only one little correction in the footnote: As per TRAI definition, only 1mbps and above is broadband.
