except a few established names, all the others like Netlink, Syrotech, Digisol, whatever all are rebrands of VSOL ONTs only. There is nothing new or special with them. BSNL is just loving chinese crapware so much. and with regards to ur requirement, yes put ur current ONT in bridge mode and use you high quality router for everything else. the chinese ONTs are good for only being used as a dumb converter.

@tr1k0N4 @Sanemi @anmolbhard004 @SayantaN @greghouse As an Auditing firm, the LCO is our client. So, anything possible he will do for us most probably. Today, I asked him what OLT is he using. He said that they are using Netlink OLT. He said that if I put the router in bridge mode, then he may not be able to resolve any issues from remote. So, he asked me to connect the TP-Link Router to put as sub-router. Is that true?

@tr1k0N4 @Sanemi @anmolbhard004 @SayantaN @greghouse And also I forgot one thing, we changed our LCO a few months ago. Both of them provided Netlink HG323RGW. The old one is the blue color and the new one is all White color. Our New LCO provided it free of cost. Though you all insisting on using the current one in bridge mode, I am reluctant to do so. Why to waste a router? The LCO will use it for another customer. So, which XPON ONT to buy as he uses a NetLink OLT?

@Mohan Kumar LCO wont solve anything by remote. Once a connection is installed, the LCOs role is to maintaint the physical medium of connection, ie. maintain the cables and hardware. Any quality issues like speed and stuff or changing plans, all those are handled by BSNL. Now LCOs also can do plan change but service quality issues are BSNL dependant. And I dont think you need to worry about wasting a router so much. If that is the case then you can just buy a media converter and connect you router to that but I havent heard of anyone doing that. I dont think ANY ONT in India is as powerful as a consumer grade/business grade router. So a bridge mode can solve all yur problems quickly without any addittional purchase. I have been using my connection in bridge mode and I have had no problems.

@greghouse As I said earlier, we haven't paid for the router yet. As we asked for urgent connection he provided us with a new Router. He too didn't pay us for filing returns. So, when settlement is made, he would charge at least Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3.000 for that router. That's why I decided to buy an ONT which would cost a little lower.

@Mohan Kumar Suppose you get a new ONT and router, who is going to do the configuration? These things are not plug and play. You will have to ask someone as you don't know anything about networking by your own admission. There will be expense either way.

And you need to get a router, switch and access point if you want the network to work flawlessly based on the number of devices you are connecting to the network. Getting a low cost ONT is not going to solve your problems.
