Hi, I have Bsnl broadband connection and i m using bsnl type 2 modem which is WIFI enabled modem. But i have connected the modem to my desktop PC using ethernet and telephone cable and I would use WIFI only when i get my friend's laptop (hardly twice or thrice a month). So i just use wired connection to use internet. Now that there are chances that my WIFI network can be hacked, I want to make my network more secure.I don't want anybody to detect my WIFI signal when i m not using WIFI. So how do i disable the SSID from being broadcasted ?If i have to use WIFI I want to have strong secure key to be used. How do i change the network access key and which encryption should i use WEP or WPA to protect the key from being hacked ? Also i need some tips for having good secure network access key.Thank you. :)

@Original poster,U have an option to Hide Access Point.WPA + PSK is good enough ... Disable DHCPUse some other range other than the 192.168.1.xChange gateway address to something else from 1.1 ...

There are a number of options in the advanced wireless section. Check that out. WPA-PSK2 is a very good password feature, but mostly, use MAC address filtering, as I find it the most secure.
