Saw season premier yesterday. Lily and marshall have a baby and its established that Barney and Robin schedule their wedding Whether they actually marry or not will probably revealed in next season.
I thought it was a decent start. I think the mother is Barney's half-sister. When older Ted talks to his kids, he keeps referring to Robin and Barney as Uncle and Aunt. But, I don't recall him referring to Marshall and Lily as Uncle and Aunt. When Barney meets his father's family, they only showed his half-brother and didn't reveal his half-sister. I think it's on purpose. She was said to be in college and future Ted has also mentioned that the mother was in the Econ class on his first day as a professor. And it has also been said that she was at Barney's wedding too. Unless Robin has an elder sister which I think is unlikely. Ted has met her younger sister (Lucy Hale) already. What's silly in the season premiere though is that it was raining and if the woman holding the umbrella had walked a few steps more, she'd be under the roof and would have also met Ted. Instead, they made her stand in the rain covering her face with the umbrella. Purely a manipulative scene.
Show's creater has already said that the show will last for 10 seasons. Also when ted goes to one of his students home, he sees her roommate. If barney's sis was in new york ..wouldn't he introduced to ted even once?
Yes, the mother is one of Ted's student's (Rachel Bilson) room mate. But, Barney himself has only met his half brother once and has never met his half sister. So, no one in Manhattan has seen the sister. Mind you, this is just a theory. But, I think it's very plausible. That rainy night at the railway station is the day of Barney's wedding. His half-sister possibly attended the wedding.I am not sure if the creators has said that the show will last for 10 seasons. AFAIK, the current contract between the studio and actors ends at the end of the 8th season. But, CBS wants to extend the show. So, they are in talks now about a possible ninth and final season. There's also an incentive to go for the ninth season. The basic requirement of a comedy syndication is 100 episodes which will allow TV stations to air a show 5 days a week for 20 weeks. A ninth season of HIMYM will mean that the show will cross the 200 episode mark which means a double syndication. So, more money!
