In Chennai, a known person was using Iqara in 2005, speeds were average & much below the said limits. But since then Iqara has been taken over or renamed to "YOU" - Not sure if anything has changed - and at that time also they were among the low-cost brands - a competitor to Hathway, I used to think.

Just now found that its a "Citigroup Venture Capital International (CVCI) owned company "

What u said is right. These people were worst in the first now no idea cos it Sounds the same!

I used IQARA years ago. It was part of Gujarat Gas/British Gas.It was a great relief to me when I started with them because I had migrated from a VSNL dialup connection :DI was happy with it for a couple of years. Then I started having regular break in service. The last straw was when the break lasted for all of 36 days. I said goodbye to them at that point.I believe they started having problems when the Mahanagar Gas people started digging in the area where they had servers (Mahakali Caves Road) so I can't say how they are now. I have a friend who uses You since a few years and is happy but she is not too internet savvy and uses it only for email and browsing.

Recently Noticed on the hoarding boards in hyderabad,
512kbps Unlimited @ 366 INR*

* Might indicate without Taxes

How is it possible for this Isp to offer unlimited 512kbps internet for 366 -Tax? Is there any user from hyderabad. who can tell me whether its a Truly unlimited connection or not? I am pretty much sure that this plan has Fair usage policy or else where do u get 512kbps Ul for 400 INR Odd?

I am currently using 2MBps connection @2400 for 3 months.. {After that it is priced at 1100 per month or so}

Though this may seem reasonable speed there is something different going on - I always have to wait lot of time for Youtube videos (360p) to buffer .. Most of the time network goes down (at least twice a day}// lot of time speed levels go very low

I will terminate this connxn as soon as my 3 months finish and take something else (probably Beam)

I got this brochure from You.
Amusing to see that you can have unlimited speed upto 256 Kbps and 2 Mbps.
Reminds me of the quote by Henry Ford for the earliest model T Ford car - "You can choose any colour as long as it is black"

Hi I m having a You broadband connection here in Pune...Believe me its the worst as per my experience...They even dont hv proper infrastructure to support the connectivity....For teh past 1.5 months i was able to surf only for hardly 3 days. Height is that apart from all other technical issues, now the problem is that they are not hvng permission for passing there cable over the terrace of a building...They nvr tell these things to customer. In this manner they are cheating. Its pathetic as per my experience...Customer eutives can only say that they are escalating. Nothing happens. Zonal manager hardly picks up the call. Operational manager does height by saying that he is not the company's employee even.. I dont knw where to say and what to say...

It's Worst all over india. I once had plans of shifting as they were giving 4 Times the connection.My friend opted 512kbps connection and used to get more than 2mbps. Due to the Pathetic service he had left the isp and Joined beam.

I have no idea about other cities, but in Ahmedabad it gives worst service and staff are evry rude and mis-guiding.I was using this from 2005 but now switching over to any other service provider other than You broadband.They are more interested in asking payments other rather then resolving the connectivity problem. When ever I want to write a complain on their website, I have not got any option for that. you will find some very good testimonials written by customer on their website, but I have not got how to go thier to write it, I think it was well desisgen testimonials written by their employees.My You broadband account No - 138590

I have used You Telecom's broadband for 7 years but then ran into serious trouble. So, wouldn't absolutely reccommend them!Read on if you want to know why.I had been using a pre-paid connection, with a 6 month validity.It worked fine, with only a few downtimes, but overall good connectivity.So i didnot really mind that it was a bit expensive.Then for some reason it wouldn't connect. Whenever i called their customer care they would say "underwater cables issue". My usage is limited to weekends only, so it took quite a few weeks before i realized it really couldn't be 'problem with underground cables' and put in a complaint. Logged in 2-3 complaints thereafter; also asked them (in all fairness, considering i'd already upfront paid for it) to give entension equivalent to the period i did not receive service (now well over 5 months!).They suggested that i should get a dedicated modem. Paid for it and got it installed. Opted for a wireless router as well.First, they sent a 2nd hand modem in a bad abused condition. Returned it, and they installed another one (suspect that was a used one as well, but wtf)Afte, went ahead with it).Service starts, but after 2-3 days the connection goes off. That's when the chase and more heartburn started.Lots of phone calls (inclding to their so called main office in Saki Naka), being directed from one person to another (Saki Naka to Vashi - Ashish cable actually), repeated follow-ups & frustrating conversations ... added to which calls from their customer service saying that "subscription expired should we send executive to renew?" [LOL!] ... to cut a long story short ... they offered me after numerous conversations, they offered me 5 days of extension for a 5 month period of no-service!! Hilarious if not tragic!!Infact there was this person insinuating that i had not filed many complaints and that i am responsible (for not repeatedly filing complaints) and that they are referring call logs *blah blah blah*!!!Ina nutshell: They simply don't understand the concept of 'Service not provided is service denied'. Or simply don't care.So if this can happen to a customer with a 7 year relationship, it can happen to anyone!Have been thinking of approaching a consumer court, but not been able to action it yet!
