yeah it seems mindfu*k question but answer is simple. Let us say the guy had change all along and no need to ask the other shopkeeper, so after the lady bought it, he had the same value as it was before (200 rs instead of some product)...now the other shopkeeper came and took 1000 so 1k loss.

Sorry to say you are indeed wrong, lets approach it in a yet another way. Lets see only the shopkeeper perspective, to keep things simple
Pre-Sale:
He has Rs.200 worth of goods he owns. So zero loss, zero gain.
Sale:
He no longer has Rs.200 of goods, but has Rs.200 cash. So zero loss, zero gain.
Post-Sale:
He has to give Rs.1000 cash to friend. So 1000 loss.
Whatever numbers or transactions that happened beyond what I wrote above, are of no monetary significance to him.
U misses the 800 he gave to lady :)

Just ignore the fake money. It's irrelevant.
how can u say its irrelevant?
u would be fine if u have an 1k fake money, is it worth?

===============================
A = 100 rupee note
B = 200 rupee goods
C = fake note worth zero
Pre-Sale:
Friend has 10A , Lady has C, Shopkeeper has B
Sale:
Friend has C, Lady has 8A + B, Shopkeeper has 2A (also he is - B )
Post-Sale:
Friend has 10A, Lady has 8A + B, Shopkeeper has (2A-10A = -8A, with - B )
So, shopkeeper has -800 cash, -200 goods = -1000
============================================

no.. he took the C from lady and then got the 10A in exchange. 2A he kept & 8A he gave to the lady.

haan. Till now. yes i am understanding.
But after that when his friend knows that its fake. Then Now, he ask his change back. so he has to give 10A to his friend. so has only 2A which he got from his friend has he has given 8A to lady.

Correct.. so yeah he borrows/gets from another friend/draws from bank whatever...and gives that..
But basically he ends up with -800 in cash & -200 in goods...
