How do I connect 2 Identical Wireless Routers, D-Link DIR 300, wirelessly ? - Yahoo! Answers

Well, After downloading the manual ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DIR-30…

It appears that with these units what you want to do is not possible with the D-Link Firmware. The function does not exist in the current firmware.
Linksys, Netgear, and others have builtin to them a system called WDS (wireless distribution) which will do what you want. Allow router to router wireless. The DIR300s do not have that feature. So the have these options

1. you have will be to use a wire between them.

2 you can buy a wireless repeater unit which would also do the job.

=================================================================3. You can update the firmware in both of them using DD-WRT
www.dd-wrt.com | Unleash Your Router (these are compatible units)
This firmware mod will allow router to router as well as repeat modes and many other features.

If it were me, I'd use the DD-WRT but it has its pitfalls. If not done correctly you will "brick" the router.. making it useless.

This is how you can do it, for convection I will call the router with DSL i.e. where the telephone line goes as Master and the 2nd Router which doesn’t have internet and needs to be part of the network as Client. I suppose you know how to connect your modem to your pc / laptop
On the Master router open the setup page by typing http://192.168.1.1/lancfg2.html, if you have configured another IP for your routers use that IP. Or Browse to Advanced Setup-> LAN
1. Go to Advanced Setup-> LAN
IP Address: 192.168.1.1,
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Enable : Enable DHCP Server
Start IP Address: 192.168.1.100
End IP Address: 192.168.1.200
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
2. Go to Wireless -> Basic
Tick on: Enable Wireless
SSID: Your choice, i.e. AIRTEL_1 etc
3. Go to Wireless -> Security
Network Authentication: Shared
WEP Encryption: Enabled
Encryption Strength: 128-Bit
Network Key 1: enter any 13 digit key, easiest is +91- i.e. +919999888666
4. Go to Wireless -> Wireless Bridge
AP Mode: Access Point
Bridge Restrict: Enabled
Remote Bridges MAC Address: Mac Address of your Client Router i.e. string in this format 00:1S:40:F0:58:EC
(If you don’t know just select Enabled (Scan) and it will display list of Access Points Broadcasting, Tick on your master router if it’s displayed in the list else press refresh. and note down its Mac Address)
5. Go to Wireless -> MAC Filter
Add: MAC Address of Client Router
Add: MAC Address of all the PC’s which will connect wirelessly to this router

And then finally

MAC Restrict Mode: Allow

On the client router open the setup page by typing http://192.168.1.1/lancfg2.html, if you have configured another IP for your routers use that IP. Or Browse to Advanced Setup-> LAN
6. Go to Advanced Setup-> LAN
IP Address: 192.168.1.2,
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Enable DHCP Server Relay: True/Tick
DHCP Server IP Address: 192.168.1.1
7. Go to Advanced Setup-> Routing -> Default Gateway
Tick off: Enable Automatic Assigned Default Gateway
Tick on: Use Default Gateway IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Tick on: Use Interface LAN/br0
8. Go to Advanced Setup-> WAN
Tick on all interfaces and select Remove
9. Go to Wireless -> Basic
Tick on : Enable Wireless
SSID: Your choice, i.e. AIRTEL_2 etc
10. Go to Wireless -> Security
Network Authentication: Shared
WEP Encryption: Enabled
Encryption Strength: 128-Bit
Network Key 1: enter any 13 digit key, easiest is +91- i.e. +919999888777
11. Go to Wireless -> Wireless Bridge
AP Mode: Access Point
Bridge Restrict: Enabled
Remote Bridges MAC Address: Mac Address of your Master Router i.e. the string in this format 00:1A:40:83:R0:13
(if you don’t know just select Enabled (Scan) and it will display list of Access Points Broadcasting, Tick on your master router if it’s displayed in the list else press refresh. and note down its Mac Address)
12. Go to Wireless -> MAC Filter
Add: MAC Address of Master Router
Add: MAC Address of all the PC’s which will connect wirelessly to this router

And then finally

MAC Restrict Mode: Allow

Now switch off both the routers and first turn on the master router wait for it to start completely till all the lights are on. Now turn on the Client router wait for its wireless to be switched on.
Now connect to the client wireless and try to ping 192.168.1.1, if 192.168.1.1 (Master Router is replying, you have successfully configured WDS/ wirelessly repeating.

Master is Belkin N+N300 dualband playmax router
CLient: Beetel - 45BXI

I am not seeing advanced setup option and there is no option to set the DHCP server IP on the client.
I am not seeing it on belkin router too to set it up as bridge.
