I have a Class 2 modem (sl2-141).it has 4 ethernet ports + wifi..
I have connected my desktop via Ethernet and laptop via wifi.
I am yet to receive my password..i have opted for the home 500 plan.
Now the modem is acting as a hub..and i can transfer data between both computers via the network created by the modem..My question is
Is it possible to connect both computers simultaneously to the net using my plan..If so can you give me the details?...i didn't get proper instructions as the modem is relatively new...
And i dont need any links for manual..i already have em all from the site

By plug and play i meant as soon as i turn the modem on,it will automatically connect the internet.I dont have to manually dial the connection within the os..the type people have over lan..plug in the lan jack and net is connected..The modem have options for it..if u try editing a profile u will see that u can give userid/pwd to the modem. The dialup profile encapsulates the modem setting...So just wanted to know if anyone ever tried that..

member/samratmitra1/Welcome to Broadbandforum.in. See my post No 3 in this thread also. Sorry. I don't have this modem to try.In the Siemens web site modem sl2-141 does not appear to be listed. Or I did not search properly? I think I had given a different link in Post No 2. Please confirm.

There are two variations of this modem:
sl2-141 and sl2-141-I
I guess the latter has a usb connection and a few more extras..
Here is the siemens page for it.

Engineering and Innovative Products - Siemens Schweiz AG

Select: ADSL2+ Bridge & Router
Scroll to the bottom of the page to find it..

And in the downloads section u will find the sl2 documents download option having 4 pdfs..

The link you gave is different but a valid manual.but not from the official site..
Actually the ones listed on the site are the official siemens releases. The one bsnl provides is the oem version, slightly modded with a white casing and the dataone logo..and it looks cooler...lol

I didn't get how to make the dialing right from the modem. The translated link you gave me shows no instructions how to do it(or i couldn't understand what u meant)..It will be greatly helpful if somebody shows the detailed instructions how to configure it with a bsnl connection.

Thanks. I think i searched under a wrong heading, and sometimes got the message access denied. ( FF IE problem )
It will be greatly helpful if somebody shows the detailed instructions how to configure it with a bsnl connection.

See Chapter 5 ( page 70 etc PPP/PPPoE . For "always on" mode Same settings as in other modems. Select 0_35. You enter your BSNL Id without @ bsnl.in and the password XXXXXX
in the modem.

Para two : The translated version is for firmware update. Don't try it now. .As reported (by @Cool_Techie_Tvm ?) Siemens customer care in India will provide the updates .

Yes i somewhat guessed that i have to edit the _35 profile..i will do that as soon as i get my password..Well my modem is working ok..so no need of updating firmware i guess..I will get in touch if i face any difficulties :P

hello,

I previously had smartX mt841 type-IV modem for few years which went faulty recently and BSNL have replaced it with this new SL2_141...

and I am facing many problems now, this modem is really doesn't have any advance settings options which my previous modem had.

One immediate solution which I am loooking for is, how do I use OpenDNS with this modem ??

and,

How do I port forward ??

can any onne put some light on it ??

:wall: :wall:

If you are using wanminiport dialer to connect no need for PF.
Advanced options menu may appear if you enter your Id without @ bsnl.in and password in the modem.
Open dns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222 can be entered in the modem or in TCP/IP properties.

reference: BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU
select your modem.

Thanks for the quick reply, but negative, not possible.Modem -> 3 PC (LAN) + 3 Notebook (wifi)Not possible to go for ADSL Dialing option :(please help :wall:P.S. Sir, My ID ends with dataone.in domain :( not bsnl.in :( its a 4 year old ID :(
