Dear Friends, I have just started using the BSNL datone connection since a week. Presently my DSL mode(ZXDSL 831 AII) is connected to my PC through the USB. I have already a LAN card(Ethernet card-Realtek Rtl-8139d PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter) installed in my PC and I want to use that card for internet instead of using the modem through the USB. Simply connecting the DSL modem to the Ethernet card is not working. I also use another Internet connection provided by another ISP through that Ethernet card and it works fine. I want to use that Ethernet card for both the ISP's one at a time. Can someone please tell me how to conifigure, the LAN card for the BSNL Datone connection. Will I need some protocol while configuring the same, if so from where I can get it? Regards.

connect the bsnl modem to your computer.. go to the command prompt and type ipconfig and post results here.. also type ping google.co.in and post results here

@akgiri Simply connecting the DSL modem to the Ethernet card is not working. I also use another Internet connection provided by another ISP through that Ethernet card and it works fine. I want to use that Ethernet card for both the ISP's one at a time.
What is the VPI/VCI setting for the other ISP? VPI/VCI 1/32 or any other ?
For BSNL Broadband you have to use VPI/VCI 0 and 35.
Check up your 831AII modem WAN setting page for this .
Both connections can be programmed in the MODEM .

from what i can see from your outputs.. your computer is dialing for you.. i.e. u r using it like a dial up connection.. so even when you connect your computer via LAN to your modem.. you need to dial..

Dear Essbebe,Nice to see you again. Dear friend I don't want to program the modem for both connection. Instead I want to connect to the internet through the same Ethernet card to both the ISP's(one at a time). More over I don't know the VPI/VCI settings for the Kappa infotech connection which I use. I just want to connect my dataone BSNL connection through the ethernet card(LAN card) instead of through the USB port. Regards

I am using Beetel220BX!Adsl2+modem for both BSNLBB and Airtel.
I simply change the Rj11 cable to either ISP's splitter..
I also use Smart Ax MT882 same way.
Para two : You need not disturb the other ISP's settings.
Just in WAN Select VPI/VCO 0_35 and enter BSNL ID ( without @bsnl.in) and password. ("always on" PPP/PPPoE)
Save and reboot and wait for two or three minutes.
How can you connect two isp's at the same time to same input point ?( the ethernet port of your computer ). Not possible.
Para two :Kappa Infotech Private Limited
Rajasthan's First Internet Service on Cable
You can connect both at the same time like this.
LAN port kappa infotech . confirm this is a cable internet (and you don't use another modem and connect to computer's ethernet port straight away
USB port BSNL BB. ( drivers for the modem ZXdsl 831 AII to be loaded )
If one fails the other will take over. You will not get the combined speed for D/L for
same file.

Dear Essbebe,The other ISP connection(Kappa) I am using is through wire less, so it does not has RJ11.Perhaps there is a confusion, I do not want to connect to both the ISP at the same time. I just want my BSNL broadband to work through the LAN port when ever I want to use the BSNL BB instead of KAPPA by just interchanging the RJ-45 cable.

members/akgiri2005/Understand KAPPA it is a cable( wire less) BB connection RJ45 directly to ethernet port of computer. No modem required. ( If a cable modem is used OK No changes )) What is the speed ?Simply do settings for BSNl BB in the Modem ( ZXDSL831AII) and you can interchange the RJ45.Frequent change of the RJ45 cable is discouraged, will lead to intermittent connection/s,at the modem and computer port end.
