Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Hitting Class 8 Student With Iron Scale - NDTV

Meanwhile, a school teacher in Howrah district was detained on Friday for allegedly beating up a class VIII student and a class IV student was allegedly roughed up by the mother of a classmate in the city.

The corporal punishment in Howrah was reported in an English medium school. The accused teacher, Jaiprakash Singh, allegedly beat up the minor, who refused to go to school after the assault.

In the city, a nine-year-old was allegedly punched and slapped by the mother of a classmate. The school authorities, including the principal, met the boy at his home and assured strict action.

Organisations working for the rights of children have come out against incidents of corporal punishment.

“CRY sees corporal punishment as a failure of the adult to engage and communicate with the child,” a statement issued by Atindranath Das, Regional Director, CRY East, said.

Hope @ghpk sees the article so he can take that article to school and show them.

That will definitely scare them.

Sometimes teacher simply assume that parent threatening to take action is just bluffing. But when you take such news reports along then they will start taking you seriously because now they will have feeling that the parent knows what legal actions can be taken.

I think it's time CCTV cameras be made compulsory and feed be provided to parents who can watch it on computers or mobiles on demand.

6-year-old beaten up for not finishing homework: Police | The Indian Express

i cannot agree with the people saying that it is "frowned upon to hit a child"
It depends on the circumstances....But i do agree that a investigation should be probed (mandatory) if a child is hit...Because as time is changing....children's mindset is also changing...there are things that have changed a childs behaviour in both good and Bad ways....TBH..if i didnt had my part of my beatings in school...i would have gotten way worse...
So it really depends on the circumstance....Bottomline..i dont encourage people saying its illegal to touch a child...but i would like to get to the reason and a thorough investigation and then punish the guilty..whether its child or the teacher...
That being said...in this case..i dont see the childs fault..whatsoever...i think the teacher needs to get [email protected]..
Its getting onto her nerves.. :P
