how to make most out of broadband unlimited plan ?

Downloading the movie for private viewing is not a crime. if u distribute then it is crime.

Yeah right! FYI go and kick the person who gave you this wrong info

umm two reasons...torrent files are not illegal even if they point to illegal content. most torrent file servers are hosted in countries where laws are not very strict. like sweden for example. torrent sites DO NOT host the content.

everyone should do some serious research before making bold comments like something is legal & something is not.here is detailed info direct from the indian copyright act,1957.
When copyright infringed.-- Copyright in a work shall be deemed to be infringed--

[*]when any person, without a licence granted by the owner of the Copyright or the Registrar of Copyrights under this Act or in contravention of the conditions of a licence so granted or of any condition imposed by a competent authority under this Act--

[*]does anything, the exclusive right to do which is by this Act conferred upon the owner of the copyright, or
[*]permits for profit any place to be used for the communication of the work to the public where such communication constitutes an infringement of the copyright in the work, unless he was not aware and had no reasonable ground for believing that such communication to the public would be an infringement of copyright; or
[*]when any person--

[*]makes for sale or hire, or sells or lets for hire, or by way of trade displays or offers for sale or hire, or
[*]distributes either for the purpose of trade or to such an extent as to affect prejudicially the owner of the copyright, or
[*]by way of trade exhibits in public, or
[*]imports into India,

any infringing copies of the work:
Provided that nothing in sub-clause (iv) shall apply to the import of two copies of any work, other than a cinematograph film or record, for the private and domestic use of the importer.

[*]
[*]Rights of owner against persons possessing or dealing with infringing copies.-- All infringing copies of any work in which copyright subsists, and all plates used or intended to be used for the production of such infringing copies, shall be deemed to be the property of the owner of the copyright, who accordingly may take proceedings for the recovery of possession thereof or in respect of the conversion thereof:
Provided that the owner of the copyright shall not be entitled to any remedy in respect of the conversion of any infringing copies, if the opponent proves --

[*]that he was not aware and had no reasonable ground to believe that copyright subsisted in the work of which such copies are alleged to be infringing copies; or
[*]that he had reasonable grounds for believing that such copies or plates do not involve infringement of the copyright in any work.

Provisions as to works of certain international organisations.--

[*]Where--

[*]any work is made or first published by or under the direction or control of any organisation to which this section applies, and
[*]there would, apart from this section, be no copyright in the work in India at the time of the making or, as the case may be, of the first publication thereof, and
[*]either--

[*]the work is published as aforesaid in pursuance of an agreement in that behalf with the author, being an agreement which does not reserve to the author the copyright, if any, in the work, or
[*]under Section 17 any copyright in the work would belong to the organisation;
there shall, by virtue of this section, be copyright in the work throughout India.
[*]Any organisation to which this section applies which at the material time had not the legal capacity of a body corporate shall have and be deemed at all material times to have had the legal capacity of a body corporate for the purpose of holding, dealing with, and enforcing copyright and in connection with all legal proceedings relating to copyright.
[*]The organisations to which this section applies are such organisations as the Central Government may, by order published in the Official Gazette, declare to be organisations of which one or more sovereign powers or the Government or Governments thereof are members to which it is expedient that this section shall apply.

as you can clearly see possessing a copy of any copyrighted work without a valid license(in movies case an original disc)from the copyright holder you are committing a crime.this extends to international organizations too like all hollywood studios/productions whose copyrighted work enjoys the same legal protection here in India.only way out is if you can prove that you were unaware of the copyright on the movies you downloaded or that it would be violating some one's copyrights & this statement in itself is very absurd in a court of law because it is a common knowledge that every movie/tv serial is a copyrighted work & you won't stand a chance in court.however indian courts & police are already reeling under the load of much serious crimes so police don't take such crimes seriously unless you are selling pirated movies on a large scale.keep in mind though that downloading any copyrighted work from internet using whatever means(torrents, http, ftp etc)is illigal & if you do get caught you will face a hefty fine if not jail for sure.

Damn, the rules are different in different countries! :P
well we live in India so only Indian laws are to be concerned & as per Indian laws downloading any copyrighted stuff indian or international is illegal.

^^^ The problem will arise only if you distribute this content to the public via CD or anything else. If this is for you private viewing, then no prob even it is illegal content.:ashamed:

wrong!this is why i posted such a long & detailed post.didn't you read my post in which i clearly posted the indian copyright act,1957 portions & anyone can clearly see that just even possessing a copy of a copyrighted work without a license is crime.of course it's illegal.it's like saying that i have a gun for which i don't have a license but i only intend to use it for self defense.

What i am trying to say is, if we use private no one should know about this. So no prob. will arrise. If we distribute, then it automatically known to high officials and this leads to prob.
