Got new mailer from HDFC. They are replacing debit which were used on international websites with chip based platinum chip debit cards.
As per RBI guidelines, Debit Cards which have been used internationally, including those for online transactions, will need to be replaced with a new Chip + Pin enabled Debit Card.
Therefore, your existing Debit Card ending with the number will be replaced with a new Chip Debit Card.
The chip card processes data securely and the PIN will add another layer of security for your Chip Debit Card.
Over the next few weeks, your new Chip Debit Card and PIN will be sent separately to your mailing address registered with us.
Importantly, your existing Debit Card will be deactivated in 10 days from the date of delivery of your new Chip Debit Card, or 15th July 2014, whichever is earlier.

Wow debit cards work on international websites.. Weren't they stopped in between? Between cr/dr which incur higher charges?

no my icici visa debit card has been working on many sites since years.. Amazon, playasia etc
not just big ones.. last christmas i ordered few things for my brother who lives in melbourne from AU based local site.. worked very well... (no paypal, straight debit visa-3d transaction)

Wow! Cool !

Btw do these merchants (Flipkart,Amazon) store our credit card number too with them? After payments gets processed by the payment gateway...?

Ok and the payment gateway will not transfer such sensitive info to merchants then in the 1st place right? :D

If you're talking about 3D security enabled gateways, many indian debit cards are working. It doesn't matter if the website is domestic or international or intergalactic.
I've refilled entropay many times using my SBI debit card.
