I used to install AVG many years ago, but ever since MS released their Security Essentials and Windows Defender, I stick to them.

Have been seeing many posts/debates on this forum about which is the best "free" anti virus, so maybe this is an eye opener for some of us.

Windows Defender and the free version of Malwarebytes to occasionally manually scan work well for me.

Yes @manu1991, that's the best option, Windows Defender and go for the paid premium version of Malwarebytes.
