HTC to no longer lock bootloaders on their Android smartphones!

Finally they wake up from slumber !!!Samsung Developers where whooping new custom ROMS by an hour ....good to see the development will help HTC to get some more developers for their hardware
 
too bad htc sensation might not gain from this policy change. if it does, would be nice.
 
i heard Sony xperia arc was a pretty nice phone. not sure if its bootloader is locked. but then it already comes with 2.3 i believe.
 
well opening up bootloaders for models that are unlikely to get any official updates is a good thing right? these guys can go for the custom mods and move on with their lives! i do not have the complete list but they have been added devices to the supported list for a while now :)
 
It is really a case of too late. It isn't like the locked phones weren't being rooted all these days, but if they sell the phones unlocked, developers wouldn't have to spend time figuring out new workarounds each time there is an update to the locking mechanism. Locking hardly makes sense considering one pays the full price for the product and that the company doesn't provide any special support whatsoever for those who do not root their phones
