Huawei UMG 1831:Laptop Problem

I am using Huawei UMG 1831 for last 1 week. I have connected this device with my PC and laptop also. But I have noticed that in my Laptop it gets more hot.Sometimes it gets disconnected also. Signal strength also shows lower. In mobile partner it shows 20-45% signal. If I use the device with my PC it shows 70-95% signal. My laptop is Compaq Presario CQ40-616TU. It has 3 USB ports and I have used it in each port. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (32Bit) Operating system. If anyone has solution to my problem please reply. :huh:

hi, i am using the same USB Modem for last couple of months, i didnt find any problem, its working like charm.... i use Aircel, AirTel & BSNL for net purpose... no issues of heating....

Signal strength can vary by 1sq feet area, so if you are using Laptop and PC in difference table no matter its in the same room, strength can change.As far as heating is concern yep umg1831 heats a lot, but its not a matter of worry. I am using the same datacard and pretty happy with it.Try to upgrade the firmware only as it comes with latest mobile partner v16.

Hey where you from? I live in chennai and i tried to connect using aircel sim. It ddnt work. I tried the access point aircelgprs.pr. Can you tell me which access point and other settings are u using with aircel sim? Do i need to enter any extra initialisation command there?

Hi, i am from chennai only... but right now in different place for work.... i used APN: aircelgprs.pr only. it worked. First check whether you have activated the gprs on your sim, because new sim gprs should be activated manually.....call CC they will help you need to send sms to a number.... until activating put your sim in a gprs enabled mobile.... once activated check from your mobile that you can browse, then you use in the usb modem.

Hi pkarthik24, thanks for ur reply. But i have activated gprs plan and has been successfully getting internet in my mobile. The problem is i was not able to connect it in the UMG1831 modem. I called c care they said they won't support usb modem. If u got any further information regarding this issue pls help me. I have an airtel sim also which is again having the same issue. I need any of those 3g networks(aircel, airtel or bsnl) successfully connected. My location is chennai

do you use Mobile Partner / T-mobile default dialer.... try to use mobile partner 16... its good..... airtel will take quite some time to get register..... use aircel / bsnl good no issues.... BSNL 3G should work without any trouble.... i will try to bring the APN details... I have already posted a link of All APN with dialling no. details already try to search for it....

Hi karthik, thanks for ur reply. Where can i get mobile partner 16? can u send me the link pls? i already have a mobile partner how to check its version?. I tried to connect with both Mobile Partner / T-mobile default dialer ddnt work. my T-mobile software firmware version is 11.826.03.01.420. do i need to update this? I am using docomo in it without any issue. but docomo doesnt provide 3g here. can u help me....

Dear Shanto try using MDMA application. you have to give extra initialisation command in your machine with respective carrier. Google for MDMA and download it .
