Model ? Samsung having a tracker inbuilt i guess.. Nokia? calling their customer care may be of some help. They may take your IMEI number and may/could block the mobile (i'm not sure though)

oh thats very sad. Make a police complaint :D

Inform your cell phone provider , about the loss , so that your number is blocked, (and if it is a post paid connection you will get a huge bill.)
Any SIM card can be used in your cell phone, after removing yours.
Better send e mail to your company and lodge a Police complaint . get a FIR number.
There are LOCKED cellphones given by say company A , which cannot be used
in Company B,C etc.
he guys at Mobile Review suggest waiting a while before doing such lockdown measures:If your mobile gets stolen or lost, if a good person has it, he will call you or redial or use number from your phonebook to contact you, this happened to a friend of mine. The phone was recovered. In this case I suggest not to use the PIN Code or block your SIM immediately that will prohibit this good person from getting your info and contacting you. If it was stolen and a thief has it he or she will might call home or someone, you can contact your service provider for the call history after the mobile was stolen and probably catch the theif. You can also dial your number and the thief might answer it (a fool that is) and it may help you determine who the hell it is. PIN Code and blocked SIM are useless here as well. The only useful code that will make it hard for a devil mind to use the phone is Prevent New SIM Phone Code, but it is still not fool proof.

u cant block phone thru IMEI number in india

Contact your service provider. They will block the sim. And issue u another sim as per request. And regarding the phone, i am afraid u might not get it back. Still try filing a FIR.

dude, didnt do anything for 1 week? come on !! Since i saw 1 week, i didnt even think that you have not done the basic thing... To get a new Sim (same number), mostly u need to have an FIR (Vodafone & BSNL in blore). Airtel will give you by paying 50Rs... Now police will blast at you if you say it's stolen a week back !all the best dear.... Here, phone gets stolen in seconds...Or they will take with physical power.. 5-6 people will get into bus, and make you inside them and take stuffs even infront of bus conductor. Nobody can do anything :(.. Cant travel crowded buses in B'lore. And as in the above review, 'it is very hard to see a good person if you have got enough bad experiences'
