I want to buy a printer 6-10k

My HP 3545 is beyond repair, took it to Nehru Place and the people refused to repair it saying the carriage issue is problematic. Even after replacing it, it's going to create problems in the future. I don't have regular use of the printer and this is why I wanted to repair this one, but I am not left with any other option now.

So yeah, budget is up to 10k. Problem is that my usage is occasional. But the occasional usage includes color and photo prints.

What to do?

If you don't use the printer regularly, you should go for a laser printer. If you don't use an inkjet printer regularly, print head will get clogged.

I mean, I can take 10-20 test prints a month if that's sufficient

You can buy Epson 3210 or Canon Pixma G2020 if you can extend your budget by 1-2K. Epson 3210 is cheaper in offline market.I have good experience with Epson. Avoid cartridge printers at any cost. They may be cheaper upfront but they cost a bomb in the name of cartridges later. Even laser printers are as expensive as inktank printers. You can get ink tank printers at 10k during sale period. But ink tank printers need regular printing else head gets clogged. If you can print atleast 1 colour page daily go for Ink tank printers.They cost very less to print.
