umm i dont think you can use your debit card outside the bank's own services. third party services would require you to put in your netbanking password. at least that's what i have seen.i am yet to see a service which accepts the numbers mentioned on the debit card. just like it works for credit cards.

Does your debit card have extra security numbers (three numbers printed on signature panel)?If it does, then VISA will process the transaction once is comes to its gateway. I have used BOA Debit card for online purchases, it works fine.

another thing. ICICI's charges and fines are increasing from July 1. Buggers are now charging for SMS Alerts. I have to read the rest of the new features to find out how much more they would annoy me in the future.

Any idea how much do they charge for SMS alerts? Is it a fixed charge or do they charge per SMS?

Rs. 25 per quarter after 6 months of free usage. they should have the rates listed on their website i would check that out.
