yeah...got to know about this news when i enquired about opening yet another account with ICICI...this is all crap...to keep 10k blocked everytime is utter nonsense...has anybody explored options about the barclay's or deutsche bank or may be the newly revamped axis bank???
stanchart here has 15K minimum balance limit. i dont mind the new limit from ICICI. i am angry because they suck. requires one hour wait to get access to a representative at their sector 14 branch in gurgaon. and despite this, they are now increasing the limits without any specific reasons. i guess they aim to lower their userbase by getting rid of people who don't/can't keep much money in their accounts. this is just bad strategy.
yes..SCB has 15 K min balance limit..have been with them for abt 5 yrs now..services are ok..not excellent..have not been to their branch much coz i have people to do that for me..but they have proved to be inefficient on more than one occasion
HDFC has many other Savings accounts. One special one is the No Frills account. We need not maintain any balance! ITs just completely free!
I tried to get a NoFrills account with Kotak. But they dont give it to new customers. Only customers with 6 months plus banking relatiuonships, and that too if u threathen to close a normal account
I dont think any private bank will let u walk in and open a no frills account
ABN AMRo is good too They have 10 K min balance But good thing is that they have a tie up with UTI/AXIS bank...so really big ATM network..so u can use their ATMs for free. Another good thing is free Doorstep banking for which ICICI charges Rs 50 per visit. You can ask for check pick ups, cash delivery, DD requests and what not. One per day is free which is more than enough. Its a no non-sense bank. And if u go to their branch, they deal with u very seriously Also look for HDFC
Yeah, but min balance reqd. and for what... a checking account..which typically has the lowest amt of interest payable. To know whether these banks 'features' are worth it, consider the interest earned by sticking 14k or 9k in a FD (for however long you have been with these banks), compounded quarterly and then you know what you are getting I'm getting the impression if you don't have any banks close (walking distance) then this what you are left with.
