Not sure if this matters to any of you guys but they have now increased the minimum balance limit to Rs. 10,000...

What do you say about this crap move from the crap bank?

One of the worst thing in Citibank is if you want to do any transaction at the branch, They charge Rs.100 as branch walking charges (Something like that). I do not have any choice as thats my salary account.

SBI might not be perfect but they are good, may be they will get more better in the future.

CitiBank is gud, but too costly to maintain if its not a salary account. HDFC are one of the worst. They need address proof for change of address, wont update their mobile number, need to visit their branch. HDFC Bank credit card tops everything, You need to write a letter to update address/mobile number and drop at ATM :(

One thing I noticed in SBI. No need to fill forms to deposit money, just give the debit card and money and its all done! The queues in Govt Banks are way better than private sector.

One thing is for sure that with the advent of private banks, public sector banks raised their efficiency and are catering well to the customers.

Agree with both points. Once had a Citibank salary account almost a decade ago but ended after I left the company and minimum balance was not maintained.

And definitely agree with the last remark. Competition from the private banks has indeed helped the govt. banks in improving their services. I remember waiting in massive lines and everything taking forever when I was a kid and used to go with my parents often. There were hardly any private banks in India or at least they were not at all popular even if there were. Professionalism and discipline was also horrible and the employees would leave their chairs and go for chai paani or gossip at the middle of work as in any govt. office and the queue needed to wait forever. But after private banks came, the public sector banks also became a lot more effective and also improve the facilities. The professionalism in public sector banks is way better than it used to be when I was a child but it is still far off from competing with the private sector banks especially the quality ones.

Axis Bank has just recently doubled the AQB to 10000 from 5000 earlier... like wise many charges also revised. Received an email some time back!! Looks like freeing up of savings bank rate is forcing banks to increase charges on every thing.

When have they changed it? I had never received any such email though I have more than that for sure. If they raised the limits and did not inform their customers then it is definitely creepy. If that is the case then the only things where they are better than ICICI is their FD and Loan interest rates but their online banking interface looks like one being created by a small kid with hardly any security features.

Even ICICI does that. However, this is only for transactions that CANNOT be done online or on the phone. For branch only transactions, there are no fees. May I ask what it is you were trying to do for which they charged you?

Really?..Thats good..next time I will check it out...I was filling form till date...Thanks for the Info.
