BSNL Broadband 750 UL @ Rs.500 pm
Hi Guys,

As you all know that UL 750 plan is Kolkata is now available at Rs.500, I had shifted to this plan on the 12th of December 2008. But unfortunately, my BSNL bill for Dec 2008 shows a huge amount as a BB Usage Charge.

First, let me explain the plan change and all.

I was on Home 500 (with 2.5 GB of free data transfer) till 11th Dec 2008 and my data transfer till the 11th was 1002.69 MB (Excluding Night Usage). The UL Plan change was effective from 12th December.

So accordingly, I should have been entitled for (2.5 GB / 30 Days) * 11 Days = 938.66 MB of free data transfer till the 11th of December. Now, since I had made 1002.69 MB of data transfer, it means that I should pay for (1002.69 - 938.66) MB = 64.03 MB. So, I should have paid 64.03 MB * 0.80p = Rs.51.22 only as BB Usage Charges. But unfortunately, the BB Usage charge shows Rs.224. And thats what I am shocked about.

This is my Bill Break-Up for Dec 2008.

Fixed Charge(Telephone Rent for Dec 08) = Rs.120
BB Fixed Charge(for Dec 08) = Rs.500
BB Usage Charge = Rs.224
Service Tax = Rs.101.28
Educational Cess = Rs.2.03
Secondary & Higher Edu Cess = Rs.1.01
----------------------------------------------------
Total = Rs.948

So can someone please help me out in this ? What do I do now ? I am sure there is a big mistake from the end of BSNL itself.

Any help and suggestion is welcomed. Thank You.

@essbebe,

First of all thanks a lot for taking time and looking into my problem.

I think you made a mistake here :

rental 500 /= approx for 20 days (750x2/3)

Since UL 750 plan is now Rs.500 in Kolkata, it should have been something like this : (500/30 x 20days). But anyways, there is no problem in the Rental, since they have charged me a flat Rs.500 for it, along with the normal Telephone Rent and nothing else, as shown in my break-up.

And secondly, I checked with the Usage Portal and its clearly mentioned there that the UL 750 Plan was provisioned on the 12th of December. And till 11th of December, my usage was 1002.69 MB as I mentioned before. So, if I am not mistaken, the usage charge should have been as I had said.

But thanks a lot to you essbebe, you helped a lot. I think I have to meet the AOTR to get this settled.

Yes, that seems to be the only option right now. I am going to meet him soon to work it out. And thanks a lot for your reply, cum_trishna.
