Pay toll by cash? Get ready to shell out 10-20% extra. In a move to decongest toll plazas, where cash payments lead to long queues, the government is planning to penalise cash tolling in metros. The extra payment, the government reckons, will bring about a ‘behavioural shift’ in commuters and make them opt for electronic tolling through FASTags.

They have lost their mind....... more glitches..... more waiting time at Toll Plaza.....

If by mistake, you have a person with card or Paytm etc at Petrol pump........ Time consumed will be atleast 3 times in comparision to cash customers.

i don't travel much. but the last time i was at a toll and tried paying using Paytm, it was pretty slow compared to cash. but yeah, tags are faster as long as they are detected properly. i used that when delhi gurgaon expressway had toll for private vehicles. it worked glitchfree around 50% of the times. rest of the time i had to handover the tag device to the guy at toll plaza who had to manually enter the digits on it into his machine which basically took more time than cash.

of course, this is assuming there is no shortage of change at the toll plaza.
